Improve your international communication skills while on vacation – five tips!

1.    Read a lot. During the summer there’s more time to read. Read different types of texts – in your own language, in foreign languages, classics, new popular authors, detective stories, magazines, poems, informative texts, cartoons, plain language texts. Without even noticing it, you’ll improve your vocabulary and ability to express yourself, and by autumn you’ll be producing much better and more varied texts.

2.     Consider your audience. Who is it that you want to reach with your messages? What type of a reader do you want to address the text to?

3.     Broaden your perspective. Travel and observe the local language and their way of discussing and sharing information. How does the country you are visiting communicate when it comes to your field of business? Visit a bookstore, read the news. What can you learn from the way people communicate in the country you are visiting?

4.     Improve your language skills. Are you interested in a particular language? Find out whether there’ll be interesting language courses available in the autumn either near you or online. Studying a new language lets you see communicating in your own language in a new light.

5.     Relax. Charge your batteries, enjoy the sun, celebrate your vacation and enjoy leisurely summer days. In the autumn you can get back to work fully refreshed!
