Over the years, the cooperation between the communications agency Kumppania and Lingo has been honed into a smooth partnership based on mutual trust, flexibility and professionalism
Communications agency Kumppania offers a wide range of communication services to various industries and applications. The demanding specialist work is supported by smooth partnerships. Such a partnership has developed between Kumppania and Lingo for translations and proofreading.
The clientele of a communications agency is often very diverse. It is important for a translation partner to be able to work across cultural and industry boundaries, to master jargon and different styles of expression. “We have a deep trust in each other’s professional expertise. After all, trust is always built first between people, then extends to the team and finally to the customers. We know each other through our long cooperation and that makes it easy,” says Pia Hirvonen, Sales and Marketing Director at Kumppania.
Jenna Kainulainen has worked as a project manager and account manager at Kumppania. Smooth cooperation with Lingo helped her to succeed in her job, which often involved handling many tasks at the same time. “I always get a quick response from Lingo, or at least I know when they’ll get back to me. Nothing is left hanging, and they always stick to the agreed schedule,” says Jenna.
Professional and flexible cooperation
Communication projects typically involve many variables, and not everything can be anticipated. Careful planning and preparation still play an important role in the success of projects. “With Lingo, we can make joint plans and schedule projects even in the long term. They also commit to these plans and take them into account in their own process,” Jenna continues.
Pia also stresses the importance of customer understanding. “There’s usually a lot more going on in a client’s life than just what we’re working on. Situations can change for reasons beyond our control and we and our partners must be able to adapt to these changes. With Lingo, this works well,” says Pia.
Lingo’s professionalism and flexibility can also be seen, for example, in the handling of customer feedback. “At Lingo, feedback is not taken personally. Instead, challenges are shared, and we solve them together,” adds Pia.
Producing a 100-page guide in three languages requires joint effort
One example of the smooth cooperation between Kumppania and Lingo is the “Guide to Becoming an Entrepreneur in Finland” published by the Finnish Enterprise Agencies (Suomen Uusyrityskeskukset ry). The guide is published annually in Finnish, Swedish and English. The concept of the current guide was created in 2020 in Kumppania, and Lingo has been responsible for the translation from the beginning.
“Quite a feat”, says Pia, summing up the process of publishing the 100-page guide and the collaboration with Lingo. Managing the contents as well as the challenging schedule requires great skill and effort. The contents of the guide are compiled by several different sources and are completed at different times. Legislative and tax changes are typically not confirmed until the end of the year, and details are always being fine-tuned until the guide goes to press. The publication traditionally takes place on Valentine’s Day in mid-February.
“We have been through this process so many times with Lingo that we speak the same language. We don’t have to explain every detail, because we understand each other from half a word,” says Jenna.
She sees particular value in Lingo’s flexibility, especially when the release date of the publication approaches. “For example, if there is a need to check a sentence or a detail at the end of the process, Lingo takes care of it quickly and efficiently. They understand the time-critical nature of the project and respond accordingly,” adds Jenna.
Finally, Pia returns to the theme of trust; a trustworthy partner is something you can and should recommend. “My job involves a lot of sales, and often when it comes to translation I point out that Lingo is a proven partner for us. A partner you can trust and with whom you have established a good rapport is a partner worth keeping.”
